Now 26 years old, Carmen holds a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Marketing and has over three years of experience as a copywriter in various marketing agencies. She is currently expanding her expertise in brand creation through Platzi’s Marketing School, with the ultimate goal of owning her own marketing company.

What inspired you to start your career in Content Creation?

I’ve been always creative, since I was a child. At some point in my life, I realized that medicine, maths, specially engineering (having a mom with 3 degrees of it), was something that was not for me. So, when the opportunity of studying marketing in college came, I took it without hesitation. It was my first adult decision and I’m really proud of it.

What do you enjoy most about working at Spectruss?

It is entirely fun, everybody is so creative and our ideas are well received every time, also Sam is a nice guy and a good boss. He makes me care about this business since I can see everyday how important this is for him, seeing him so passionate about it makes me want to grow and learn more and more everyday.

How do you stay ahead of industry trends and innovations?

My marketing consumption over the last 2 years increased a 5000%. Sometimes is exhausting since you have to keep on track all the time, non stop, but if you snooze you lose (or something like that). My biggest fear is to become one of those marketers “with over 40 years of experience” but still talking about Coca-Cola vs. Pepsi. In this business you have to keep on trend, learn about thousand of successful business, being a social media junkie and read, a lot.

What's your favorite project you've worked on so far?

A few years ago I was creating content for a Marketing Agency in Spain about traveling and where to stay in different cities around the world. It was like traveling but mentally. I learned a lot about different places and their culture! I truly believe that sooner than later I’ll be traveling around the globe and writing about it at the same time.

When you're not working, what are your favorite hobbies?

In a daily basis either I’m watching movies or practicing my makeup skills. I also love traveling to small towns around, take photos and eat different dishes, spending time with friends and my cat, last but not least, I love to get myself some flowers or plants.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself?

I have the silly (an unnecessary) capacity of remember every single birthday that people tell me. I still remember dates from people in my classroom when I was 8.

In another life, what would be your profession?

Actress or a movie director.

Movies/TV shows you would recommend.

The Office (It gets better after the S1, I swear), Fleabag, Behind Her Eyes (if you like massive plot twist). Now, for movies, I’m afraid that we will need to create another page on Spectruss just for that.

What was the first concert you’ve ever seen?

Miley Cyrus. That was my childhood idol and it was GREAT!

Favorite food?

An entire fried fish, along with salad, lemon and plantain. It’s like the venezuelan version of the irish fish and fries.

Top bucket list item?

Seeing Northern Lights.
