Sam Silvey races hard enduro under the Spectruss name. Same rules as the agency: prepare properly, commit fully, finish the job.
Where it started
Eleven years on bicycles. Then a different kind of two wheels.
Sam started racing mountain bikes at 13 and spent the next 11 years competing across disciplines, winning the Tennessee State Pro Road Race Championship and the SEC Division I Overall Mountain Bike title along the way.
When the 2008 housing crash made a pro contract unlikely, he closed out his cycling career in 2009 with Team BMW Litespeed as a Cat 1 road racer and UCI Pro mountain biker, then put his programming skills to work and founded Silvey Development in 2012. The company grew into Spectruss.
Between 2012 and 2019 the racing itch moved to Formula cars and UTVs, including the Spectruss UTV at the 2019 Mint 400.
Hard enduro
A KTM, a mountain, and a sport that does not let up.
In 2019 Sam bought his first motorcycle, a KTM 250 XC-W. A group of riders at Aetna Mountain introduced him to hard enduro, the mix of trials and enduro riding that rewards technique and nerve in equal measure.
Since then he has raced hard enduros, hare scrambles and enduros across the Southeast, with 15th in 2022 and 23rd in 2023 at the Red Bull Tennessee Knockout, the US Hard Enduro National Championship.
He races the A 40+ class in US Hard Enduro, NEPG and SORCS.

Racing taught us how to run the agency.
You cannot fake preparation on a hard enduro course, and you cannot fake it in a client's business either. Walk the line before you ride it, commit when it is time to commit, and keep going when the easy part is over.
That is the standard clients get from Spectruss, and it is why the Speakeasy opened with the racing story.
