Whether you call it Wednesday or hump day, one thing’s for sure — it’s not nearly as bad as Monday, but it’s not quite as sweet as Friday either.

If the mid-week grind has you a little down, we’ve got just the thing to lift your spirits: new music from Modest Mouse.

Along with two 7″ records of unreleased material, the new song “Lampshades on Fire” is one of the first releases since 2009 from the Issaquah, Washington-based band.

Reminiscent of the classic songs that established Modest Mouse as mainstay of American indie rock, “Lampshades” started out as a staple of the band’s live sets in 2011 and only recently received studio treatment.

Built on a foundation of a driving drum beat and a bouncing keyboard line, “Lampshades” is a certified ear-pleaser. Check it out!

Keep an eye out for Modest Mouse’s new album, Strangers to Ourselves, when it hits physical and digital shelves on March 3, 2015.

And, for good measure, here’s one of our favorite Modest Mouse classics:

Also, when we’re not blasting new tunes from our favorite bands, we make music ourselves. Check out our chops here!

Catch you on the flip side.
