Station
A DESTINATION OF ITS OWN
The challengeOnion Bottom Station is a new adaptive reuse commercial development in downtown Chattanooga. The challenge is to give a new life to the once lively hub for importing and exporting produce on the rail lines, supplying large cities like Chicago with fruits and vegetables grown in the South. The objective for this development is to create a new mixed-used office/retail space for tenants to occupy and serve as a new destination for residents of the city to energize.
SOLUTION
Our team began working on the project by conducting research on the history of Onion Bottom Station and gathering context from the surrounding neighborhoods around the site. Our design team used all the necessary information to reestablish a new identity for Onion Bottom that commemorates its past, celebrates its present, and carries on to its future.
The lines of the new logotype represent the layers of history of the site with a very modern edge. The colors reference the different produce that came from this prominent part of the locomotive lines from the early 1900s and the lively colorful homes from the surrounding neighborhoods around Onion Bottom Station.
After developing the new identity, signage, way-finding and environmental design, our team worked with the developers and architects to create architectural presentation drawings and 3D renderings showing new life to the site. We translated those images to create a commercial real estate packet for agents and brokers to present to potential new tenants of the space.
We also designed and developed a website for Onion Bottom Station as an online tool to learn more about the development and show all the spaces available for lease.
