Every brand has a beginning and ours started with code, curiosity, and a drive to help businesses grow. What began as a solo venture in web development evolved into a creative partnership and eventually transformed into Spectruss, a full-service marketing and advertising agency serving small businesses locally and nationally.
2012
The Foundation:
Silvey Development
Before Spectruss existed, Sam Silvey, our founder, began his journey as a freelance web developer. While studying Computer Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Sam started designing and building websites for local businesses. This hands-on experience laid the foundation for a future creative enterprise, giving him a deep understanding of both the technical and visual sides of digital marketing.

2013

Creative Partnership:
Silvey + Huffaker Creative
By 2013, Sam officially launched Silvey + Huffaker Creative, a boutique agency that merged his technical skills with creative branding and design. As Principal, Sam led projects that combined development, visual storytelling, and marketing strategy. This phase helped refine the creative direction and laid the groundwork for the next chapter following the evolution of media.

A New Era:
The Birth of Spectruss
In July 2015, Spectruss was born. The vision was clear: create a full-service digital agency capable of delivering everything from custom websites and e-commerce platforms to Google Ads, video production, branding, and social media strategy.
Over the years, Spectruss has grown into a powerhouse for data-driven creativity, serving startups, small businesses, and national brands alike. Our emphasis on results—blending smart design with targeted digital campaigns—has earned us recognition as Chattanooga’s Best Advertising Agency in 2024

Spectruss goes remote + AMP
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Spectruss seamlessly transitioned to remote work, maintaining business operations and helping clients navigate an uncertain time. Embracing the shift in how businesses operated, the team evolved its approach to stay agile and effective. During this period, Spectruss executed a more targeted marketing strategy focused on the booming aesthetic industry, capitalizing on the surge in demand and helping clients grow within this rapidly expanding niche and began Aesthetic Marketing Partners, AMP.

The Re-Birth of Spectruss
As businesses began recovering from the pandemic, Spectruss returned to serving a diverse range of industries, with a renewed focus on locally owned small businesses. Meaningful relationships, collaboration, and community impact remained at the core of what made their work truly rewarding.
In early 2024, Spectruss returned to offering services across multiple industries, reaffirming their commitment to what they do best. A remote office was launched to support growing demand, followed by the opening of a more prominent physical location in early 2025.
To deepen their connection with the business community, Spectruss launched, Spectruss Speakeasy Podcast, a platform for business owners to share stories, discuss challenges, and celebrate the value of meaningful work. The podcast became a space for authentic conversations that inspire, inform, and build community.

Our journey began by building brands and beautiful websites. Today, we offer a full range of services, including digital advertising, campaign development, content creation, SEO lead generation, Google Ads management, social media management, website management, marketing automation, and more.
Our team operates under the EOS framework, which drives productivity, accountability, and alignment across our team. This system provides a clear vision for the future and helps us grow alongside our clients with intention and impact.

The experience and camaraderie we’ve built with our city have shaped who we are, and we’re committed to giving that same support back to others. A year or two ago, when we started with Spectruss, I was seeing between, maybe 2 or 300 new service requests and customer inputs to the POS system every 30 days. Last month, there was 486. We’re seeing steady and consistent growth through all of this process. It’s been super helpful and we get a lot of great comments about our website and the information on it.
