Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Clay brings local insight and a passion for community growth to his role as Business Developer at Spectruss. A proud graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Clay holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and has a deep-rooted understanding of how strategic marketing can elevate local brands.
Clay thrives on building genuine relationships with clients and helping businesses grow through smart, creative strategies. Whether he’s meeting with a new business owner or brainstorming innovative campaigns, Clay brings energy, insight, and a collaborative spirit to everything he does.
When he’s not connecting with clients or developing growth strategies, you’ll likely find Clay outdoors or at home relaxing with his dogs. He’s an avid adventurer who enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, and riding motorcycles.
What inspired you to start your career in marketing/advertising?
I was initially having a hard time deciding what career path to choose after graduating high school. I began working some retail jobs discovered that I enjoyed sales and learning what makes the sale happen. This set me on the path of studying marketing in college.
What do you enjoy most about working at Spectruss?
I enjoy helping clients grow their businesses and reach their goals. It’s also fun to see them excited about beating their competition.
How do you stay ahead of industry trends and innovations?
I keep learning online, whether it’s reading an article or watching an informative video. I also pay attention to what businesses are doing on social media.
What are your interests outside of marketing that influence your work?
I really enjoy exercising and being active. I am always trying to do better, whether it’s beating my time on Strava, or getting a client even better results.
What do you like most about Chattanooga?
We have beautiful mountains with trails for my favorite activities. We also have beautiful creeks to swim in and great places to eat.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
The hobby I have done the longest is skateboarding, which I have done for over 20 years.
In another life, what would be your profession?
A professional whitewater kayaker traveling the world.

Any old Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell movies.
What was the first concert you’ve ever seen?
A Brad Paisley and Tim Mcgraw concert here in Chattanooga when I was 12.

Cheeseburger with fries.
