Delivering his expert knowledge in creative direction to the Spectruss team, Justin brings our clients’ vision to life. With over 12 years of experience in design and graphic communication, he ensures our clients are represented at the best light through various forms of media.
Justin is an architecturally trained designer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Tennessee. His creativity and interest in the arts started very early. He began life drawing at age 3 and built toys from unconventional materials. He has lived in three countries and studied on three continents, and has shown his award-winning work internationally. The diverse cultures he has experienced have provided him with the best lessons in life that he values dearly.
During his studies, Justin took a considerable interest in the marketing and promotional side of design. Fast-forward to today, he has worked on multiple campaigns and built brand identities for various industries ranging from architecture, fashion, engineering, health and beauty, food and beverage and more.
After hours, you’ll find him out for a run, lifting heavy objects, making social content for his influencer dog, outdoor and indoor gardening and learning the art of bonsai. Post 2020, Justin has been a part of an online community where he actively participates in growing streaming platforms for artists and has been slowly working behind the canvas on his own art as well.
What inspired you to start your career in marketing/advertising?
After graduating college, I got hooked on the show Mad Men. Watching the creative team work on campaigns and seeing how a brand’s message can impact the world was incredibly inspiring for me. I wanted Don Draper’s job.
What do you enjoy most about working at Spectruss?
Building beautiful brands and making clients happy.
How do you stay ahead of industry trends and innovations?
Trends and technology move at a rapid pace, so you always have to think of future proofing your work to stay relevant. But I definitely listen to the kids. They know what’s cool and they know what’s up.
What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on so far?
So many! Designing the Hutton & Smith Brand is probably my most recognizable work, but I enjoy giving clients their full visual potential and make them look their very best.
What do you like most about Chattanooga?
Location. Chattanooga is a crossroads and offers so many outlets for outdoor recreation and travel. It’s hard to get bored here.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I was voted as one of Chattanooga’s Top 20 Most Beautiful People in 2017. lmao!
In another life, what would be your profession?
Break dancer, 100%. Something kinetic in the entertainment industry.
Movies/TV shows you would recommend.
Dexter. Ozark. Breaking Bad. The White Lotus. When it comes to movies, l’ve always enjoyed “based on a true story” adaptations. I have an appreciation for historical depictions and documentaries about war time events/bioepics… when education and entertainment become a two in one special!
What was the first concert you’ve ever seen?
Britney Spears, Oops!…I did it again world tour, 2000.
Favorite food?
Japanese & Mediterranean. It’s the presentation for me.
Top bucket list item?
If traveling to another habital planet becomes a thing, I’d like to expereince that. I need to know what is out there!
