Samantha Patterson
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
Sam has been a creator for as long as she can remember. At ten years old, she launched a custom luggage tag business, her first dive into entrepreneurship. That same impulse led her into painting, photography, and personal styling, where she discovered something that stuck: helping people see themselves differently is one of the most rewarding things you can do.
That realization is what drives her work at Spectruss. As Social Media Manager, Sam builds brand communities by creating bespoke content that helps clients get comfortable on camera and show off the personality behind their business. It’s the same confidence-building energy she brought to styling, just with a wider audience. And while the creative side is what pulls her in, she’s equally drawn to the data. Making content that looks great is one thing; understanding why it works gives it all meaning.
Sam earned her bachelor’s in Digital and Visual Marketing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she started getting serious about content creation, both personally and professionally. Her time at UT sharpened her ability to pair creative instincts with real strategy, a combination she brings to every campaign.
Outside of work, you’ll find Sam on a Pilates reformer or treadmill (where she constantly questions why she does this to herself), playing Fleetwood Mac on vinyl, or dreaming up new uses for thrifted clothes and home decor. For her, it’s a low-pressure way to keep playing with design ideas.
What inspired you to start your career in marketing/advertising?
I’ve been a creative my entire life, and I thrive in fast-paced environments. But what really pointed me toward marketing was shadowing a mentor in my adolescence who worked as a designer and creative director for an agency. Watching how thoughtful and intentional she was with her work showed me that creativity could be a career.
What do you enjoy most about working at Spectruss?
Making brands feel human. Plus, the Spectruss team is made up of the most fun people in the industry, who also happen to be ridiculously good at what they do.
How do you stay ahead of industry trends and innovations?
Staying curious. I am constantly looking for and learning new ways to approach problems creatively.
What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on so far?
Any project where someone goes, ‘No one else is doing this.’ That’s where I thrive.
What do you like most about Chattanooga?
Chattanooga is all about being active and getting outside. I love that. One of my favorite things to do is go hiking, and with so many trails around here, it never gets old.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I go scalloping in Crystal River, Florida every year. Catching your own food and cooking it same day is as good as it gets.
In another life, what would be your profession?
Rachel Green when she works for Ralph Lauren.
Movies/TV shows you would recommend.
Clue is my favorite movie. Paradise and Vice Principals are my favorite shows.
